i first came across common in an instagram story from revolver, one of my favourite multi roasting coffee shops in vancouver, and lets be honest, if revolver is supplying it, then its going to be good. the branding is also super cool! the bright pink just pops at ya. so when i was in vancouver a couple weeks ago, i met up with george, owner of revolver, and long story short, he gave me a sample bag. you know me, i get super excited when i get new stuff, and was happy to share with my friends and baristas in coffee shops close by.

if you follow my instagram, you’ll see i was at quentin sharing some coffee’s there. we did every coffee by pour over just so it was fast, easy, and we can all have a taste. for some reason, this coffee just didn’t taste right, something wasn’t working. it said strong, and the description sounded exactly like a coffee i would like, so what went wrong.

i brought it home and decided to just make it up as a straight up espresso, and yup, that was my answer. mannnnnnnnn, this coffee was really really good. when i posted my daily cup story on ig, someone from common reposted and commented. i told them how i enjoyed it way more as an espresso, and they’re like, “ya, this coffee is meant for espresso.” well that makes a lot of sense now. i looked at the bag and even there on the back it said best suitable for espresso and moka pot haha. well, i feel much better now, and tbh, now that i’ve had my shot of espresso i can definitely think better and write this blog.

about the bean. strong is a brazilian/guatemalan blend. it’s got typical notes like chocolate and nuts, but also a hint of fruit, dark fruits, like cherry, or blackberry. if you want to lessen how bold this coffee is, i’d suggest adding a bit of water to make it an americano, but if i was you, straight up espresso is the way to go. i just enjoyed how complex this bean is.

common is a roaster from the uk. i’m always intrigued and excited to hear of coffee people from that part of the world because they’re known as tea drinkers, but they’re slowly putting their name out there in the coffee world, so look out! if you’re in vancouver, stop by for a taste. if you’re in europe, or specifically in the uk, then you’re one step closer. if you’re nowhere close, just hit up their website, not only will you get a yum coffee, but they’re website, style, and packaging is pretty fun. check em out.
