a few weeks ago i had an awesome time meeting up with beto at buna’s office and roastery to sample and taste some of their coffee’s (which are fantastic), and then he gifted me a bag of dalia to take home and enjoy. fun fact, buna offers mostly blends as they work with 600 different farmers and producers all over mexico!

ok, so dalia. i decided to have it straight up as an espresso. i also made another cup as an americano, just to see what the difference would be like with a little bit of water. to me, nothing beats espresso. i do appreciate a good drip coffee, but espresso just makes me happy, and this one was delish. dark, nutty, chocolatey, just the way i like it, with a hint of tart fruit, not too much, just enough to give it a little some. i can see why this is one of the most popular blends buna offers.

now, as an americano. also, very delicious. by adding water, it became a smoother coffee to drink. still dark, but less acidic. less nutty, more chocolate and fruit. a very pleasant cup of coffee to share with some friends. i can see this also working well in a french press.

being able to work with 600 different producers and farmers at any given point during the year is quite impressive. preparing and blending those beans together is a science, one that buna has down pat. if you’re in or around roma, stop by buna for a yummy coffee, or you can grab it to go and enjoy it at plaza rio de janeiro, something i like doing too!
