blom is in the heart of up and coming neighborhood juarez. there’s a lot of nice, fun shops, and just like this one, if you’re walking too fast or not paying attention you’ll walk right by it.

owner of blom viridiana just celebrated her first anniversary in that location, and it’s well deserved. in a city where the coffee game is mostly run by men, viridiana has made this coffee shop her own, from the floral and artistic vibes in her merch, like cups and tote bags that even guys would like, to letting local artist and friend design the logo and art piece in the bathroom (ask to see it), to hiring friendly female staff, she wants to show that girls can run this thing!

he does get help from her boyfriend, enrique, and so the day we met up, I had the pleasure of meeting both. they were so down to earth, and easy to chat with. we just talked about the coffee world in Mexico City, what me and my wife are doing there, and why (that’s always the big question), and what they thought of my plans for starting a coffee shop walking tour, which they, among others, think is a fantastic idea. we chatted outside because the weather was beautiful while enjoying a iced matcha latte. I’m not usually into matcha, but they prepared it perfectly without the usual bitter taste. then we went back inside while mimi prepared a pour over, and an espresso, both using local beans, and man, were they perfect. no need for cream or sugar, they were amazing on their own. they told me how excited they were to celebrate their first year anniversary with friends and family, and by the looks of it, it won’t be their last.

blom is a perfect little spot if you want to grab a coffee and go (they even have a little slot in their window so you can literally just grab and go), or you can sit and enjoy it on the benches outside shaded by the trees from the hot sun.
that definitely wasn’t the last time I’d be visiting, only a couple blocks away I can see myself frequenting the coffee shop, not only for their great coffee, but friendliness and nice staff, they made me feel welcome even if it was the first time we met. this is definitely a place you need to put on your list if you’re checking out coffee shops on Mexico City, juarez is a place you need to check out!
oh, along with matcha lattes, they also do chai. I didn’t get to try it but I smelt it, and wow. they also do “special guest” coffee beans to share with customers interested, at the moment, they are serving nomad coffee beans from barcelona. like i said, go check this place out!
