“chiquitito” in spanish means tiny, and that’s what jeremys first location in condesa was, a small, perfect location to open up a cool coffee shop.

originally from the u.s., jeremy lived and studied abroad. he got the idea of a specialty coffee shop while he was studying in london, longggg before specialty coffee was a thing. after he met his wife and moved to mexico, they decided the city needed one, so they went to specialty coffee heaven, portland, to study. when they returned, they found the perfect chiquitito spot, hence the name.

while jeremy worked the drinks during the day, his wife would make the baked goods at night. the coffee shop was a hit. they served their own blend of beans, but also supported local roaster cafe con jiribilla, run by avellenedas owner carlos.

one shop lead to another, which lead to the newest location on prado norte, which is where I met jeremy. this location is beautiful. although he tells me that he would’ve done things a bit differently, I love every part of it. the modern tones, the clean metals lines against the brick wall, hanging plants along the ceiling, everything is clean. near the back of the shop is a couch leaving you feeling comfortable and homey, while enjoying your drink of choice. mine, was a flat white. nice, smooth, and delicious.

chatting with jeremy was pleasant. he made me feel welcome, as well as his staff. as a side note, about a week earlier I was at the condesa location with my doggo, and again, the staff was super friendly wanting to pet and play with my dog.
after getting to know each other, jeremy sent me off with a bag of their beans, which I’m looking forward to trying at home and posting on my blog how I enjoyed them, so stay tuned.

chiquitito might mean tiny, but it has a big place in my heart. love this place, and can’t wait to go back!
