let me start off by saying that when I first moved to mexico city, buna was one of my favourite coffee shops. it’s in a cool little spot in roma near the rio de janeiro statue, where, if you’re not really paying attention, you can easily miss it, but once you try their “rico coffee,” you won’t ever walk by it again. so when I got a response from beto saying he’d meet up, i was pretty excited.
we met up in the morning and just chatted. it was relaxed and natural, almost like friends that hadn’t seen each other in a while were catching up. one of four friends that grew up together in high school, went their separate ways, and then came back together to start buna, they’re very passionate about what they do. being proud mexicans, they support local farmers and producers to serve the best coffee. most of their sales come wholesale, while letting the public try their amazing coffee at their one location.

I was really appreciative that beto gave me the time to meet up with him and hear me out on my plans, not only for this blog, but how I also want to help the coffee game grow in mexico city by starting a walking tour. the coffee shops here are really amazing, and i want to promote them and get the word out so people can come try what mexico has to offer. he was pretty excited about my ideas, so he invited me to come to their roaster to try their different beans. man, I’m not going to lie, I was ecstatic, and that’s why this blog is called part 1, because part 2 will be coming after I visit the roaster and have sampled more of their rico coffee!
